Cranbrook railway station (Devon)
Cranbrook railway station is a railway station under construction to serve the new town of Cranbrook〔(''First Cranbrook train is delayed until 2015'' ), Exeter Express and Echo〕 near Exeter in Devon. The station will be located on the West of England Main Line between Whimple and Pinhoe stations.
==Construction==
The station was originally expected to open in 2013,〔 and the 2014 timetables included an additional two minutes for trains passing the station. However, detailed design of the station only began in summer 2014, and construction started that autumn with opening initially due in spring 2015,〔(South West Trains Exeter, Bristol and Salisbury to London Waterloo timetable, December 2014 )〕 but problems with a sewer and railway signalling postponed the opening for a then unknown duration.〔(''Cranbrook station faces delays'' ), Exeter Express and Echo〕 In August 2015, the opening was announced for October. The station's single platform will have a usable length of to accommodate pairs of South West Trains' three-car units that operate on the route.〔 There is a car park with 150 spaces.〔(''Plans submitted for Cranbrook railway station'' ), Devon News Centre〕 The station and its services will be operated by South West Trains.
